Can I carry a CB onto a plane???

Question:
I am going to start driving for a new company next week. They are going to fly me to Nashville TN. I am allowed 2 checked bags plus 1 carry on. I am not going to put the CB in the carry on, but I am wanting to put it in the checked baggage. It will be about 2 weeks before I make it back home. It will be hard to go 2 weeeks without it. I am not taking my tools. (Thats going to make me feel naked). I am just taking 2 weeks of clothes, bed clothes, map, flashlight, tire gauge, Sirius Radio and CB, if they will let me.
Have any of yall ever had any problems taking electronics on board a plane???
Thanks

Answer:

Sometimes they will open the case up to look at the inside or just x-ray it ,the way to do it is tell the person checking the bag in what you have inside the bag. I have had some problems someplaces and not others. BOL

Answer:

I haven't installed my CB in the last 4 weeks. It's easy to live without it.

Answer:

We do all the time;
Just be prepared for a lot of stupid and perhaps insulting questions; They may even ask you to use it to prove it is what it is and not a bomb or triggering device.
And since most cars have their own antenae and you probably won't carry one, your going to have problems making it work. And you'll have some explaining to do.
Also, the one-way ticket means automatic high risk security check. So extra screening measures for you.

Answer:

If you have a cheapie, this would be a good time to upgrade.
If in doubt, just call the airline. Although, I don't think your gonna miss much without a CB.

Answer:

Just make sure you get a high velocity wind antenna mount to mount your antenna onto the wing. You'll have to drill a small hole just below the window to run your coax..
At 20,000 feet, you should be able to really get out......

he will too!! he will miss the OFFICIAL dieselducy radio broadcast

Answer:

Go ahead and take your CB and your Sirius with you. I would put the CB in your checked baggage, and and put the Sirius in your carry-on. The TSA folks will not likely know what a CB radio is, and be more likely to question it. Put it in a container and label it as "CB Radio", and label anything else that you think a TSA official might look at and question.

Answer:

I think you may want to reconsider putting anything valuable in checked baggage. Since 9/11 checked baggage cannot be locked and will be inspected and no one will take responsibility for anything stolen from checked baggage.
Ship valuables to yourself via UPS or Fed-Ex to arrive when you're in orientation. BOL

Answer:

Good advice. While pilfering from luggage is nothing new, since the new rule of not locking checked baggage went into effect it has become much more prevalent. The airlines include a disclaimer, right along with the instructions to not lock your checked baggage, not to include anything of value in your checked baggage as they will not be held responsible should it not arrive at your destination.
If you know ahead of time which hotel you are staying at, have it shipped to the front desk, include (written on the packaging material) "hold for guest, arrival 7/18/05" and make sure your name appears in the return address area. This is a common practice for conventions, conferences, business travelers, orientation attendees.

When Interstate Dist. Co. flew me home I put my Galaxy 66 in a checked bag and had no problems. Actually having a CB in my bag was the least of my worries... I had a one- way ticket and had to go trough alot of extra screening. I even got an escort onto the plane, but I had no troubles with a cb in the bag.

Answer:

I flew Southwest Airlines out of Tucson to Providence, RI last February to get a pickup car I drove back to Arizona. I put CB radio in the one carry on bag I brought with me. I also had a one way ticket.
I had no problems what so ever on the trip with the radio or anything else for that matter. I had one layover in Las Vegas and had my bag with me the entire time leaving one plane and getting on another. Still no problems.
My bag was x-rayed in Tucson. They asked me what I had in the bag I told them it was a CB radio and opened the bag to show them. They just nodded and passed me through.

Answer:

Hey bunker108, how do you like it with Interstate Dist? That is who I am going to work for. They have just opened up the new terminal in Lebanon Tn. They was going to fly me to Tacoma, but they are now doing orientation out of Lebanon Tn. All of the drivers I have talked to all seem happy. This will be my first experience with a large company. Everyone I have worked with before has always had less than 100 cars. I am going to run the S.E. Region, Patty and Mel were telling me that they have a dedicated account out of Pineville La and they should be able to get me home every 10 -14 days.
