Question:
Im not talking about little packages but rather than stuff that is on pallets either dry or refrigerated. Is it paid by the mile and if so how much on average is that? Is LTL freight cheaper per mile than say carload? Is it paid on the number of pallets?
Im totally lost when it comes to this.

Pricing LTL freight is VERY complex.. Not only do you have the fixed/variable costs of the vehicle to consider you have dock costs...labour...fork lifts...claims..etc etc..
In fact, one of the major complaints of shippers who use LTL services is pricing complexity...
There is no simple answer to this question...
