Misdemeanors?
Question: Hi: Just wondering after reading a post in the Newbies files. What does a company or Canada look for when you have a misdemeanor? I know that a felony disqualifies you from driving internationally but what does a misdemeanor cause? Just curious Answer: you may not get into canada with certain misdemeanors.they view it as what they would do with you.here in the states we might slap you on the hand and send you home, but in canada they may put you in jail for the same thing.if in doubt on some thing you have done here i would check with a imagration office before i took a load there or crossed the border.at that point it could get costly. Answer: No, I would not under any circumstances "check with them first". You will find that fifteen thousand other drivers will be allowed back and forth between the US and Canada but you will be banned. Stay off the radar screen. An ordinary misdemeanor will probably not show on Canadian computers during a routine screen. On the U.S. side customs have access to the NCIC, but you will be coming back in then. The key is common sense. You know what your misdemeanors were. Were they dropped from felonies in a plea bargain? Were they crimes of moral turpitude? Answer your own questions.
