See You Later
Question: In reference to a post that I made on June 9th about personal attacks here, I have made up my mind to refrain from posting anymore here. I have enjoyed most of you and am sad about the decision that this has come to. There is nothing that I enjoy discussing more than Theology and this will leave a great void in my daily life. But I cant continue in the midst of the present situation. I have tried to respect others and their beliefs. If I have offended anyone, I beg your forgiveness. Answer: Well, Nocount, you have to do what you feel comfortable with. I've also thought about simply becoming a lurker myself, but, then, I probably don't have good judgement, so I just go on! I know you left before, then came back, so I have to hope it will happen again. I think you are one of the voices of reason among the Christians on the forum (along with Skywalker and Pen), and though some of you disagree, you manage to - usually - keep it civil as well as interesting. Answer: I agree that it's too bad you are going. I know that you and I disagree (sometimes strongly) over religious philosophy and even more so when it comes to politics, but we usually keep things within the bounds of civility. So it will be a shame to lose your voice over here. Hope to see you back soon. Answer: Answer: I have seen many street preachers treated far worse, even to the point of physical violence. To bad you don't have the fortitude to stay with it. Answer: Answer: You never offended me. I enjoyed our discussion over "once saved always saved" (an age old issue which has divided many Churches) and thought we kept it polite and civil. I respect your knowledge of the scriptures and agree ,or disagree, I respect Your opinions, and will miss the exchange of ideas. I hope that I haven't in any way offended you. I have learned that One must have a very thick skin to exchange ideas on the net much the same as the C.B. radio. I suspect that since it is so impersonal, unlike face to face conversation, that people make no effort to hide their contentions and have no fear of unbridled confrontation when the risk of physical confrontation is removed. (just like "C.B.Rambos") That coupled with the lack of facial expressions and audible tones of voice in the written word make plenty of room for things to be taken wrong, offences to come, and bitter feelings to take root. I of all people would never suggest that anyone pull punches or hold back on their opinions or beliefs on spiritual matters or polotics, but when it comes to down and dirty insults and personal attacks, we must remember that behind these screen names are real people with real feelings. .
