Satellite 2-way radio

Question:
I sell satellite 2-way radio equipment that covers all of North America. I think there is a market for expediters and brokers wherein the broker would broadcast his available loads over a satellite voice channel that is monitered by carers who want that type of work. The receiving driver who wants the load that is being broadcast simply has to press one button to log the load in real time.
There could also be another channel where carers could shoot the bull without any airtime charges, again with national coverage and as an added plus: no one but carers will be on the channel.
Is there any demand or interest in this type of service?

Answer:

Don't know if there would be a demand for that or not. Question for you, though. Is the talk channel going to be just one channel? Or will there be multiple channels? How about a trunked, or squelched side-tone method? Anything to limit misuse or abuse of the channels? If you listen to the CB now you hear a lot of wash & polish, lumpers, and other advertising on it. What about the rude users talking over each other? Maybe an ID system to control the abuse...

Answer:

Your concerns are valid and there is no problem here. The subscribers have an ID number that is displayed on all receivers when that terminal is transmitting and I envision this as a fraternity with certain qualifications requirements in order to purchase and participate on the talk network. What do you think Horseman? Also, there is only one terminal transmitting at any given time on any given channel (up to 15 channels are available).
May I email you directly?
My email is:

Answer:

How much would a unit like that cost?
And would there be a monthly fee? Sounds expensive to me. But if there were programing like NPR or the Bozo or other information and news and intertainiment that you would not be losing all the time it might be worth the cost. Maybe?

Answer:

Sounds like a great idea, can you send me some more info?

Answer:

Sorry this reply took so long Cyote. I lost my netscape programmed bookmarks and finally read your query today.
The 2-way radio technology I propose is handled by the AMSC-1 satellite. It is the only one that offers this type of service.
Using standard logic trunking, you can have private (truly Private) communications between any number of mobile terminals from just one to 10,000 mobiles.
If you are still interested in learning more about the service and how you can make more money than what it costs, then please email me

Answer:

Gee, a salesman right here on the car Net forum!
This is not allowed ... however, in the interest of information, I suggest you post a link to the service you are selling. I would be interested in seeing it.
This is a ONE time break in the no advertising rules.
