Is there a God?
Question: I am not qualified to engage in an esoteric diatribe concerning the debate of evolution vs creationism, but evolution has scientifically been disproved. If this is so, then how did everything come to be? All that I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all that I have not seen. Ralph Waldo Emerson Simply stated and beautifully written.... Ralph Waldo Emerson's thought mirror my own. All religions have contradictions. I can only assume the reason being that we humans have a hand in it. But, after wading through the contradictions most see glimmers of truth to build upon. The danger of that is people soon start believing that their beliefs are the only TRUE beliefs... and tend to abdicate the original thought, hence the need for fellowship and church. It keeps us in check; from going off on the deep end as in the cases of Jim Jones, Waco, and many others to numerous to count. I am a Christian. I have battled through believing and not believing. I do not have conventional Christian beliefs as many on this BBS are aware of. Many times we have argued between ourselves over Theology. One common ground that we all share is the belief in Christ. Christ's existence has been documented through many sources, not withstanding the Bible. His examples of goodness shows mankind how to live their lives. I choose to follow his examples, therefore, I am a Christian. I don't have to agree with other Christians on different points....quite contraire`, I have been know to argue vehemently with CRider on this forum over theology but, the one bond between us that remains is that we believe Christ was the Son of God and the savior of men and women. When someone "bashs" the believes held closest to ones heart....well then, human nature takes over. You defend in what you believe....regardless of the fact that your actions of defense is contrary to what you are taught. For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten Son, that who so ever believeth in him shall not perish; but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Answer: Hairbear said...... You defend in what you believe....regardless of the fact that your actions of defense is contrary to what you are taught. ------ My point exactly! All though I would leave the cute little label "bash" out. Just as I disagee strongly as you do. You disagree as strong against me,but that isn't nor does it have to be bad. Yes our personal feelings get hurt, but if we look at it as giving others a chance to see different sides of "beliefs",then its doesnt have to hurt . I do not dislike any christian for what they believe. You all might find this hard to believe but even in my so called sinner state..I can forgive those who hurt me,I just do it without divine intervention. I forgive from my heart Samantha...freethinker Answer: "I am not qualified to engage in an esoteric diatribe concerning the debate of evolution vs creationism, but evolution has scientifically been disproved" Please share your sources of this information. You seem to be the only one that knows that evolution has been disproved. "Christ's existence has been documented through many sources, not withstanding the Bible. His examples of goodness shows mankind how to live their lives." Agreed. "When someone "bashs" the believes held closest to ones heart....well then, human nature takes over." I have seen lively debate here, but I don't think any of it was meant as "bashing". Blade Answer: Blade says: "I have seen lively debate here, but I don't think any of it was meant as "bashing". " Recent events have proven otherwise. There has been rampant bashing of Christianity and God and Jesus. Pecos out- Answer: You're right Pecos, there has been plenty of bashing on both sides. Blade Answer: YEP! Answer: Try this Blade.... it doesn't give the details I am looking for concerning the impossibility of simple amino acids being formed from gas and carbon but it does give an overview of the subject. Answer: Greetings All, Please, let me make a few comments on this subject. Many people do not consider their spiritual well-being until tradegdy strikes or the hardships of daily life become unbearable. However, just as there are physical laws, such as the Law of Gravity, which govern our existence, there are spiritual principles which, when properly applied, will enable us to endure the hardships of life and improve our overall health and well-being. Faith in God Almighty or our "Higher Power" as we understand Him gives us meaning and purpose to life and hope for the future. While descending a mountain and approaching a dead man curve, Joe carer discovered that he was skating on black ice and out of control. Entering the curve and steering the best he could, Joe felt his drivers hit the shoulder and his trailer begin to lean. Joe had never been to church, read the Bible, nor had he been concerned about spiritual matters but suddenly, Joe got interested in religion. Turning loose of the steering wheel, raising his hands in the air and closing his eyes, carer Joe called out, "God Help Me" for the first time in his life. Moments later, not hearing a crash, he open his eyes to discover his rig around the curve and back in control. Then an inner voice said, "Take the wheel dummy". Joe soon embarked on a mission to get acquainted with this previously unknown God who had altered his destiny on the icy mountain curve. Joe is now a full time servant of his God, Creator and "Higher Power" and messanger of the good news of God's love and power to deliver all those who call out to Him. In 1984, Russian General Vycheslav Borisov was deputy chief commander of the Soviet invasion force in Afghanistan. His helicopter was shot down and the former atheist found himself crying out, "God save my life and I will serve you," He was the only survivor out of twelve on board. Six months later, after a miraculous recovery from multiple injuries which included burns over 85% of his body and a broken back, General Borisov returned to active duty. He spearheaded a mission to distribute Bibles to all Russian soldiers and organized the first Russian military CP program. In 1974, I had a cracked wrist and was unemployed and facing eviction with nowhere to turn. I was 26 years old and had worked for 28 different employers. My wife, Nana, had hyperglycemia and my daughter needed eye surgery. I was considering suicide as the only solution to my problems, in desperation, I called out to God and He answered in a powerful way. As I began to seek first the Kingdom of God (Mat.6:33), Jesus gave me hope for the future and a new purpose for living. Within two weeks, I had a job and my wife was completely healed of hyperglycemia. A month later the eye doctor exclaimed, "I don't know what happened, but your daughter no longer needs surgery." Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever! Just as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, healing the lame, sick and blind and raising the dead to life, He still walks among us today, transforming the lives of all those who diligently seek Him. God has put my life back in order along with many others from all walks of life. Many of us are like the cooperate executive who spent forty years climbing the ladder to success but on reaching the top realized that his ladder was leaning on the wrong building. We often go through life looking for the right things in the wrong place or doing the right things for the wrong reason. We look to ourselves, family, friends, employers, society, and government to give us meaning, purpose and fulfillment in life. Milk comes from cows and not chickens, we need to quit looking for milk in the hen house and go find the cow. God has a plan and purpose for each one of our lives but few people find it and experience true love, joy, and peace which is the fruit of the Spirit of God. (Gal. 5:22) Genesis 1: 1-3 (1)In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The Bible makes no attempt to prove the existence of God and states in Pslams 14:1 A fool says in his heart there is no God. God has revealed his presence to all through the mysteries of His creation. From the beginning the existence, unlimited power and authority of God is assumed. (2) and the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the spirit of God was moving over the surface of the water.(Nothing was Happening) Without God there is no meaning or purpose to life and the world is formless and void (empty). Without God darkness covers the earth and its inhabitants. (3) Then God said, "Let there be light";and there was light." John 8;12 Jesus said; "I am the light of the world;he who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." Faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life. "Without faith it is impossible to know God for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." (Heb. 11:6) The true and living God that created us is willing and able to reveal Himself to us on a personal level. The priM source of our information is the Bible but God also reveals himself to us through His Spirit and His deeds. Ask Jesus to come into your life and reveal Himself to you. From the Bible God says, "Call unto me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know." and "For I know the plans that I have for you, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. (Jer: 33.3 / 29:11 NAS) When we put our trust in God, no situation is hopeless and nothing is impossible. It is no secret what God can do, what He has done for others, He will do for you. May God Bless, Chap Answer: Hey Chap, Welcome. Another name I haven't seen. If you are new to this forum, welcome. If you aren't new, don't mind me...I generally get medication in about an hour And, a wonderful post. Thank you for sharing. I especially enjoyed your "milk...cow...chicken" illustration. How true. How can it be that when people are seeking spiritual answers, they look to the wrong sources. If a person wants spiritual answers to spiritual question, come to the One Who was...is...and is to come. The One Who can be a present reality in our daily lives. The One Who sticks closer than a brother. Who is, indeed, as close as the mention of His name. Tell us a little more about yourself.
