Helping Our Drivers
Question: I'm always thinking of how I feel whenever my better-half is on the road, lonely and missing him. I started thinking about how he must feel so far away from our home and how I can make it better for him. He has a nice little color TV and a vcr in the car, so I thought it would be nice for him to see all the things that happen here when he's on the road. I video tape our property (40 acres that he's put a lot of hard work into), the sunsets over the pond, our Alaskan Malamutes playing, the birds at the feeders, our flower gardens, the deer that come to drink at our pond, the tracks of the resident "Deer-A-Soris-Rex" buck etc. He has a fridge and a microwave in the Mack, so I cook and freeze his favorite foods for his 1st few days back on the road, so that at least I know he's getting a few good days of food. I'm always looking for new foods for his car and just found the new Classico product "It's Pasta Anytime", doesn't need refridgeration and since he's Italian, he loves it. Anyone have any other ideas we can share? I'd love to surprise him with new foods and gifts. ------ SusieD "The Lord Will Provide" Answer: HI Susie I too am always looking for special things to do for my hubby while he is OTR. I am not very talented in many areas but I do OK as a writer so sometime I buy a journal and write a book for my hubby to take with him. I have inclueded pictures of him and the kids and things that go along with the topic or the chapter that I am writing. I even include extra pages so that more can be added as we go along. One of the books I wrote had chapters titiled I am proud of you when....I miss you when....You have taught me.....I love the way you.....I have also included chapters like You make me madest when....but not many like this. I also am working on a book of love letters and poems. I have made coupon books for him, a written letters and placed them all over his car and things. Hope this gives you somem ideas. Shelly Answer: Thank You Shelly, for the great idea. I have stuffed funny and romantic cards in his Mack where I know he'll find them, but I really like your idea! He has pictures of him and I taped all over the inside of his cab, and I also made sure he has some reminders of his dogs (stuffed malamutes!) He wants to take one of them with him so badly, but he's been driving so much he doesn't know if it would be fair to the Mute. What do you think of taking dogs (or any pets)? Any good food ideas? ------ SusieD "The Lord Will Provide" Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.cartaste.com
